Veterans Day 2009

Tonight I'm attending a candlelight vigil in honor of Veterans Day.  With the Ft. Hood tragedy still developing, it is of the utmost importance that we honor the military's men and women veterans.  And as a Texan, I am grieve for my friends who had family members who were on the base (and some quite close to the shooter) at Ft. Hood.  So pause tomorrow at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month for all of our verterans.American-Flag

Pin Up Girl

After seeing a photo of America Ferrera at a Save the Children event wearing a Moschino safety-pin embellished dress, I have a new attitude towards those little mundane contraptions. Usually viewed as tag-attachers, button substitutes, skirt closers, or on punk-rockers, the safety pin is now a stylish addition to a basic outfit. Incidentally, it can also be a fun DIY project for the more crafty crowd in these hard economic times. At any rate, this Moschino version is a bit more pricey considering the Swarovski crystals embedded in the safety pins.
